Just a few hours ago a misterous video appeared on the web (you can check the original news on Kotaku ), said video has become a bomb among both the youtube and the MK kommunity.

The video itself is an 8 minute trailer for an MK reboot movie, the video was uploaded by the user MortalKombatRebirth, an user registered just yesterday.



There is not a lot of info on this video, according to LatinoReview the video is a teaser designed to attract investors on a new MK reboot movie, and according to WBIE they have no knowledge of this video.
At the very least the video doesn´t seem to be a fake, his production value must be high in order to have actors such as Michael Jay White(of Black Dynamite Fame) in the cast.

UPDATE:

Acording to Jeri Ryan twitter (the actress who played sonya in the trailer), the video "It's not a game trailer. Actually was made for the director to sell WB on his vision for a reimagined MK film". So that discards the idea of a reimagined MK game for the moment, only time will tell if this reimagined movie ever comes to fruitition.

The director of the MK Rebirth clip, Kevin Tancharoen, has been interviewed by the movie web Collider, you can watch the full interview here .

Thanks to Bloody Disgusting we found out that Warner Bros, the current copyright owner of MK, has got in contact with screenwriter Oren Uziel so he can write the screenplay for a reboot on the MK franchise.

That´s right, i said reboot, apparently WB is looking to restart the story from Zero, probably beginning with the MK1 tournament in which the original movie was based on.

Does the MK movie franchise needs a reboot? hell yeah, i mean, the original MK movie was not bad by any means, for it´s time it was actually a good movie, but it can certanly be improved upon. That´s pretty much all the info available right now, no dates, no script, no producer, directors or the guy who brings the coffe, but since we are dealing with WB, well, i guess you can say it´s a safe bet.

Mink, the director of the next Mortal Kombat movie, has been dropping some information about the direction of the project in the IMDB.com forums:

'MK3 is a re-invisioning of the franchise much as Batman Begins with Chris Nolan and Christian Bale was a re-invisioning of already traveled material. Currently we are cranking on the script when that is 100% premo then we move onto the next phases of making the best MK picture.'

'Re-vamped is the wrong word as it indicates that script was about a specific game story line and then we moved to the next game or vice versa. That is not the case. The mortal kombat universe is that a universe much as the x-men universe and spider-man universe are universes. By universe I mean multiple story arcs from multiple sometimes media sources and multiple tellings of the story creating what would be an entire historical presentation of a subject. Much as Ultimate spiderman is just as much a part of the spidey universe as is Spider man from the 60's and filmmakers looked at all of the spidey universe when adapting that. That being said the script we are working on is the next feature presentation from the MK Universe and it draws as does Batman Begins or Spidey from all the universe not just one particular story arc from a past, present or future game arc but of course does add the new and possibly relevant story arcs from those games into the universal theory.'
