So the E3 is finally over, and even though we had most of the news on day one, there have been a great number of interviews to the man itself Ed Boon, the most interest one is the one brought by Gamespot, mostly because it is half interview, half man...i mean gameplay, that is right, we have three round of MK in all it´s Bloody Glory, if you are to lazy to click on the hyperlink, watch the video below:
That aside, there´s also many interviews from a number of sites, first we have Jeff Gerstmann GiantBomb, the always delirious Destructoid and the australian site TotalMK.
Since i know you are a busy person, here you have a resume of the more relevant:
-The MKteam (now known as netherealm studios) have been working on this game ever since the finished MKvsDCU, but some of the ideas implementes in this game com from before that, the idea of going back to 2D gameplay was born from the hybrid mechanich of MKvsDCU.
-The X-Ray Move was also an idea borned during the development of MKvsDCU.
-The fighting engine of this game is the most complex so far.
-The final size of the roster might vary, but it will be around 26 + DLC characters.
-There are no more characters confirme for the moment, even though most of the roster will be composed of characters from MK1, MK2, MK3. And no confirmation on Stryker.
-The game will have around 18 arenas, and if one of said arenas had a deathtrap in a previous installment, it will return for this one.
-The game will have an story mode much like MKvsDCU, but it will be a single story, and it will be much more longer and complex.
-The game was going to be called MK Resurrection or something similar, but since the game plays homage to the first games on the franchise, it will be called just Mortal Kombat.
-The soundtrack will be composed of classic themes remixed, and a few new ones. Dan forden will return to make the music, but it is still unknown if the "Toasty" will return.
-Ed boon broke the record guiness for voicing a character for the longest time in a videogame, that´s 18 years making the voice of scorpion. Just so you know, the second place is the guy who makes the voice of Mario.
-Ed boon might return to be the voice of announcer, maybe as an unlockable feature.
-There will be super unlockable secrets like in MK2 and 3.
-There will be at least 2 fatality´s per character, and alternate costumes. If there are going to be any friendships and the like, they will remain a secret.
-In order to come up with a new fatality, the teams reunites on regular meetings where everyone brings an idea, and the rest decide if it´s cool or not.
-The DLC for the game will include characters, arenas, fatalitys and alternate costumes.
-There is a chance that MK1 will be released on Xbox Live Market place, and the playstation network.
-Ed boon loved the rebirth trailer, and if it ever gets done, he supports the idea. By the way, the release of said trailer and the announcement of MK9 being only a day away, is merely a coincidence.
-Ed still has a very good relationship with John Tobias. Friendship.
-The experience of working with WB has been extremely positive, they have great creative control and all the time they want to develop the game. Quality is of the escence.
-The importance of this game is such that a planetary alignament is taking place just in order to make it possible.

Netherealm Studios presents MORTAL KOMBAT (2011)!!!!! 10 Jun 2010 by Ivanhobe
The wait is finally over, the guys from Netherealm Studios formerly known as the MKteam, have finally unveiled the project known only as MK9, which from now on will be refered to as Mortal Kombat (2011). Aside from the trailer, that you can see below, there are a few known facts, first is the adition of a tag-team kombat mode of sorts, and according to the web kotaku, the game will have "The deepest story from any fighting game".
Here´s the trailer:
As you can see there a lot of characters in the trailer, some of them have their classic outfits, while others have been tweaked up a bit, all very familiar, the game seems to integrate some of the elements from the fighting engine used on MKvsDCU, but the game seems to be a 2D fighter game, instead of a 3D fighter like the previous entries.
Funny fact, the characters from the trailer are all classic characters, but none of them is one of the characters that appeared in MKvsDCU, there is also a few cameos from characters from the latest MK, like kira, taven, daegon and kenshi, asides from those cameos, the game seems to be a remake or retelling of the first games in the franchise.
